Niche is basically a group of people that have a specific interest or a specific problem. Niche is your target audience. For instance, a group of people want to lose weight in 7 days, that’s a niche, a weight loss niche, or a group of people like to play basketball, that’s a basketball niche.

A good example of niches is Amazon. Go to departments you can see how many categories there are, each category has their own sub-categories, and each sub-category can be divided into even more specific niches. Like I went to Home Audio & Theater under the Electronics, Computers & Office department, then chose Surround Sound, my niche can be Surround Sound under $200.

Where has pain, there is a niche, always remember, business is solving problems.

Like this website, this is a make money online niche, why will you read this post, because you have a problem, you want to know how to make money online, to be more specific, at this point, you want to know how to choose a profitable niche for affiliate marketing. You are reading this post because I’m solving your problems, so if I’m selling something that can solve your problems even more, you may buy it.

Selling something that can solve people’s problems, that’s how businesses are.

The biggest problems of people are Health & Fitness, Wealth and Relationship & Self-help.

Health & Fitness

The biggest problem on earth, also the most profitable niche.

– How to eat healthy, organic foods, diets…

– How to lose belly fat, weight loss…

– How to grow six packs, workout, training…

– How to be pretty, makeup, skin care…

Wealth

People in this niche are more skeptical than other niches because there’re too many scams, but still the second big problem people have.

– How to make money fast, earn money online, marketing…

– How to save money…

– How to invest, cryptocurrencies, stocks…

Relationship & Self-help

It may not biggest as Health & Fitness and Wealth, but still a big profitable niche.

– How to get laid, romance, dates…

– How to make him/her like me…

– How to be a better person, humor, confidence…

If you can be an authority in one of these niches, you can really earn much as you want. But what if you know nothing about these niches, and don’t have any passion about them, there still lots of niches in your interest…

Profit or Passion

Yeah, earning a full-time income from internet sounds great, but how about making a living from your hobbies, sounds even better. If your hobbies are one of the most profitable niches we’ve talked about, then congratulation, but most people are not in this case.

I highly recommend you go for your passion, you must be happy about what you are doing, if you find yourself OK with the top 3 profitable niches, then that’s great, but if you hate those niches, and have no idea what you are doing, you won’t make any profit. Choose a niche you are involved and interest in, you can make tons of profit. People buy from those they know, like and trust, this will only happen when you really engage in that specific niche.

Again, the best ways to make profits from your hobby niche is to solve their problems, here are some examples…

This includes all kind of sports and activities, this can be divided into many different niches.

This one is a great high ticket niche because traveling is more expensive than other niches, you can earn more profit per sale.

Most people in this niche will use Instagram or YouTube to promote their websites.

It can be divided into different niches in listening to music, learning musical instruments and producing music.

And more…, I hope you get the idea. Find your hobbies, divide them into more specific niches, pick one and work on it.

Industry v.s. Niche

You may have already noticed I keep using the word “specific”, this is the most important thing when choosing a niche, it’s not choosing a profitable niche, is choosing a specific niche and you will start to make profits. This is the secret of choosing a profitable niche, one word “specific”.

Just imagine, when you got a problem, let’s say, you want to lose 7 kilos in 7 days, will you go to Google and search “weight loss”, or you will search “how to lose weight fast”, “lose 7 kilos fast” or “weight loss plan 7 days”. If you target the niche of weight loss, they might be interested, but they will end up buying 7 days weight loss plan on a different site.

Notice the difference between industry and niche, I have a passion for music, can I choose music as my niche? Absolutely no, music is an industry, niche must be specific. I have another niche website, my niche is budget music production gears. I’ve narrowed it down from Music >> Music Production >> Music Production Gears >> Budget Music Production Gears.

The more specific your niche is, the better. People will go to the internet and search for something specific, don’t worry about your target audience is too small, see how many search results in my specific niche, over 2,290,000 results! I can make tons of money from it. In fact, you will start to make profits when you narrow down your niche.

Too Competetive

Then you will be asking, is my niche too competitive? The answer is NO. Although there are many people in your specific niche, there’re more people who need your help or your products.

For example, there’re millions of McDonalds around the world, but why they are there because their customers come from different countries, different cities, different blocks, each person goes to the nearest McDonald. In the internet, people are also from all corners of the world, each person has the chance to go to different sites, so that niche is not as competitive as you think.

Supply is always greater than demands. There’s no too competitive niche, the point is doing keywords research and targeting low competition keywords. Keywords can be too competitive, but not niches.

Monetize and Branching

Now you have your specific niche, you can now start to sell something to help your target audience solving their problems. To do that you need a niche website or a YouTube channel, and learning about how affiliate marketing works. I won’t cover those things here, but you can click the hyperlink to learn more.

Remember I told you to choose a specific niche? When you start building your audience, you can start to branch out, it’s not meaning branch out to different niches, but doing something relative to your specific niche. Like my niche website that selling budget music production gears, I also sell some high-end music production gears and make some music producing tutorials. My website is still about budget music production gears, but I also include some relative contents.

And also, it’s totally fine to have multiple niches, you can run different niche websites at the same time, I mean you don’t only have one hobby, don’t you? It’s a great way to earn multiple incomes, but remember, those niches must be specific.
